Here in N. C. something that has worked in similar cases is to sue for alienation of affection.

While case law exists allowing persons other than parents to recover expenses that supported a child, the appeals court notes that Mr. Burel “was the minor child’s father by law and, thus, was himself under a duty, as a parent, to support the child.”
Yep that's how they look at it here in Ohio. One of my ex co-workers husband found out a kid he had with a previous marriage isn't actually his after 11 years. They are still making him pay child support. I consider both these cases extremely unfair
