Finally someone is taking a stand for non-custodial parents. Hopefully this will pass and set an example for other states to follow. It is time for parents to put the emotional well being of their children above their petty differences.

I do not care for this for a couple of reasons.
A parent who does not visit, usually does not like the child or some aspect of the situation. How is the child going to benefit from a hostile visit? It would seem to me that what ever problems there were before would only get worse.
When a visitation requirement is not met, does the failing parent get fined, put in jail, or does an IOU account get set up? None of these options appeal to me. Visitation is usually a benefit for the non-custodial parent guaranteeing the opportunity to visit the children. It sounds like this law would turn a pleasure into a chore.

The bill is designed to punish the custodial parent who tries to interfere with the non-custodial parent's right to visit their child.
It is not a law to punish a dad who doesn't visit their kid enough. It is a law to punish the mom for making it impossible for the dad to see his kid.

I thought the same thing when I read the headline.
But, in reading the article, you'll see that it will enforce the custodial parent allowing visitation by the non-custodial parent. It will not force the non-custodial parent to make visits.
